New Green Parking Structure & Security Office | Ann Arbor, MI

PBA provided MEP design services to parking architectural consultant, Rich and Associates, for a new parking structure and security office located east of the Crane Liberal Arts & Science Building and south of the Campus Green on the campus of Washtenaw Community College.

The new 4-level parking garage includes 471 parking spaces and is used by faculty, students, staff and visitors.  An additional surface lot includes 56 spaces.  The structure has two elevators and two stair towers.  A bridge is provided for foot traffic to the adjacent Crane Liberal Arts and Science building.  The structure also includes a green roof.

Mechanical design included a stand-alone, micro-processor based building management system (BMS) employing direct digital controls (DDC) to monitor, control and optimize the operation of the HVAC systems in the building.

Electrical design included general parking deck lighting on each floor; lighting in the stair towers and office; power for general outlets, office, elevators and mechanical equipment, as well as a future 3,000 security addition; and design for a limited number of electrical vehicle charging stations.

The project has been submitted to the U.S. G.B.C. in pursuit of a LEED(R) Silver rating.
