Peter Basso Associates provided MEP engineering design services and architectural lighting design services for the Sparrow Ionia Replacement Hospital which recently achieved LEED Certification from the USGBC.
Sparrow Ionia Hospital is a total replacement acute access hospital comprised of 65,600 square feet of floor area on two levels. The facility includes 22 inpatient beds--including ICU and isolations rooms--two operating rooms with provisions for additional operating and endoscopy rooms, emergency department, diagnostic and treatment areas, radiology, laboratory, kitchen, and all required support spaces and functions for a complete critical access hospital.
The infrastructure was designed to accommodate a future 40,000 square foot medical office building that will be attached to the hospital.
The project was design to meet LEED Certification requirements and was completed under a tight budget. PBA worked closely with the Construction Manager as part of the design-build team to assure that the mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems were in line with the project budget, while still meeting the high quality standards PBA delivers to its health care clients.
