Seasoned MEP Engineering Design Leaders Take on New Role for 2021

Peter Basso Associates (PBA), Michigan’s largest MEP consulting-only organization, is pleased to announce two promotions to Group Leader: M. Scott Gibbs and David Conrad.

PBA vice president and mechanical engineer David Conrad, PE was recently promoted to Corporate Governmental Group leader. His 22 years of experience includes systems design for new construction and renovation of various types of facilities, with a particular emphasis on sports & recreation facilities.

Conrad earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Engineering, from Kansas State University (Manhattan, KS) and is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Michigan. He is also a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and Engineering Society of Detroit (ESD).

Notable projects include Western Michigan University, Lawson Ice Arena Infrastructure Improvements (Kalamazoo, MI), UAW Solidarity House Renovation (Detroit, MI) and University of Michigan, Yost Ice Arena Renovation (Ann Arbor, MI). Conrad was also instrumental in the mechanical design engineering of the University of Michigan, Stephen M. Ross Athletic Campus Athletics South Competition and Performance Project (Ann Arbor, MI), which was recognized in 2020 with ASHRAE Technology Award's at both the Chapter and Regional levels.

Promoted to Higher Education Group leader is PBA electrical engineer and vice president M. Scott Gibbs, PE, LEED AP. In 2020, Gibbs celebrated his 20th anniversary with PBA. His extensive project experience includes both new construction and renovation of educational, commercial, and governmental facilities. Gibb’s earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Detroit Mercy (Detroit, MI) graduating Cum Laude. Gibbs is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in eight states including Michigan. He is also a USGBC LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP).

Notable projects include the University of Michigan, Stephen M. Ross Athletic Campus Athletics South Competition and Performance Project (Ann Arbor, MI), Western Michigan University, Western Heights Student Housing (Kalamazoo, MI) and the Henry Ford Museum 'Driven to Win' Exhibit (Dearborn, MI), currently underway. In 2020, Gibbs authored a peer-reviewed article titled, 'Illuminating the Means of Egress,' for Consulting Specifying Engineer Magazine (March, 2020), which was included this week as one of the 'Top 10 Most Read Articles of 2020' in CSE Magazine.
