On February 6, 2019, Brienne Willcock, Hon. AIA, MIES, LC, Willcock, an internationally-established lighting designer with Illuminart, a Division of Peter Basso Associates, Inc., will be co-presenting on the subject of "Light, Color, and Improved Color Quality Possibilities with LED Solutions," at the 2019 Better Buildings By Design conference in Burlington, VT.
The presentation with focus on Building Systems, Both Residential and Commercial. The following is a brief synopsis of what will be discussed.
"Through the ongoing advancements of LED technology, the possibility of providing improved color quality performance and value has never been greater. This presentation will address aspects of color science and the basics of the human visual system. Included will be a review of the most widely adopted methods and metrics for describing all aspects of color quality and performance, for general illumination solutions. Considering both the Indoor and Outdoor environments, examples illustrating the current and future possibilities for accurately predicting color quality performance, color contrast, layering of light and value in the illuminated space will be discussed, including the metrics incorporated in IES TM-30." On March 13, Willcock will be co-presenting on the topic of "Time is Money: Examining the Lighting Design and Manufacturer Relationship." She, along with her co-presenters will lead a panel discussion based on the following abstract.
"Our time is a scarce resource as lighting designers. We do our best to stay in the LED & controls loop — we join IALD, write IES RP’s, go to LightFair. When manufacturers consume even more billable time to show us the latest and greatest, we end up in a repetitive blur of technology instead of creating memorable experiences. So, how do we make the sales and design relationship more effective? More enjoyable? In this panel, we’ll discuss vendor trips, lunch and learns, and office visits to inspire a new way of thinking about the value of time." (Retrieved from www.leducation.org, January 23, 2019)
Willcock has served as the president of the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) in Detroit, and as the IES Annual Conference Chair. She has been nominated to the IES national Board of Directors for a 2019-2021 term. Willcock also received a '40 under Forty' award from Lighting magazine - an internationally recognized lighting design publication.
At Illuminart she specializes in standards and guidelines, and project visualization techniques. As a project manager, she has provided services for in-depth investigation of LED product research, comparative analysis of products, and evaluation of performance data.
