R. White, IALD, IES, LC, Principal, Illuminart, Inducted into the IES Detroit Chapter, Michigan Lighting Hall of Fame

Illuminart principal, Robert White, IALD, IES, LC, recently earned his place in Michigan lighting design history, as the latest inductee into the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES), Detroit Chapter, Michigan Lighting Hall of Fame.

Robert White, a graduate of Detroit’s College for Creative Studies is a design principal at and founding member of Illuminart, a division of Peter Basso Associates. Robert has been creating innovative lighting design solutions for over 30 years. In addition to his most recent honor, as an inductee in the IES Michigan Lighting Hall of Fame, Robert has received Edwin F. Guth Memorial Awards of Excellence for interior lighting design for the Qatar National Convention Centre and the DTW McNamara Terminal as well as a  Control Innovation Award for the Qatar National Convention Centre.

His architectural lighting design work has been featured in a variety of industry publications including Lighting Dimensions, Mondo, Architectural Lighting, Metropolis, Illuminator (Russia), Interior Design, and LD&A magazine.

Robert is a lighting design instructor for the College for Creative Studies, Eastern Michigan University and the University of Detroit Mercy. He is also a guest lecturer for Lawrence Technological University, and the Illuminating Engineering Society.

When asked what the Hall of Fame induction means to him, Robert responded, "I'm thrilled to be inducted into the Michigan Lighting Hall of Fame. To share company with such legends in the industry is humbling. I look forward to honoring the recognition with redoubled support to the IES lighting community in Michigan and beyond."

Michigan Lighting Hall of Fame

The Michigan Lighting Hall of Fame was started in 2013 to recognize and honor lighting professionals with a Michigan connection who have contributed in a significant way to the lighting industry.

All inductees receive a plaque and are added to the Michigan Lighting Hall of Fame plaque, which is displayed annually at the Illuminating Engineering Society's product show.
