MEP Engineering Design Firm, PBA and Illuminart Welcome 6 Team Members

Untitled-2-6.jpgPeter Basso Associates (PBA), is pleased to announce five new hires and a new addition to Illuminart, a division of PBA.

New hires include Nishank Shah, mechanical design engineer to its HED group; CAD specialist, Suha Bahjat; lighting designer, Karl Geil to Illuminart; mechanical designer, Taylor Jewell to its K-12 group; mechanical engineer, Abdul Khayat, to its K-12 group; and lastly, electrical designer Carmen DiCicco, to its Corporate Office and Government Group.

Shah is a recent transplant from Chicago where he received his Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago, Chicago, IL. He also received his Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pune in Pune, India, his native country. Shah is accredited by the United States General Building Council (USGBC) as a LEED Green Associate and received his Building Performance Analysis Certificate (BPAC) from Autodesk. He is also a member of ASHRAE’s Illinois Chapter. 

Geil received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Albion College in Albion, MI and studied Interior Design at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, MI. He is actively involved in the lighting design for the Henry Ford Health System, Maple Grove Facility Upgrade project in West Bloomfield, MI and the Interlochen Center for the Arts, Music School Addition in Interlochen, MI. He is lighting certified (LC) by the National Council on Qualifications for the Lighting Professions (NCQLP) and has served as Detroit Section Officer of the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) since 2012. In addition to his extensive work experience, Geil has served on the Great Lakes Commission as a program specialist. He has also been an adjunct faculty instructor of interior design and lighting design for undergraduate students at Eastern Michigan University, Ypsilanti, MI and Lawrence Technological University, Southfield, MI. As a returning staff member of Illuminart, Geil and his fellow Illuminart design team received awards from the IES for their work at Western Michigan University’s Sangren Hall in Kalamazoo, MI and at Grand Valley State University’s Mary Idema Pew Library in Grand Rapids, MI.

Khayat received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Aleppo in Syria. He is currently attending Oakland University in Rochester, MI and anticipates receiving a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2018. Khayat has provided mechanical engineering design for the Port Huron School District 2016 Bond, specifically for its Northern High School project in Port Huron, MI. He has also been actively involved in the mechanical design for the Lake Shore Public Schools 2016 Bond Lake Shore High School Renovation project in St. Clair Shores, MI and the Farmington Public Schools Summer 2017 Bond Projects in Farmington, MI. Khayat specializes in HVAC systems design, performing load calculations and selecting appropriate mechanical equipment. He is also well-versed in AutoCAD, Revit, HAP v.4, Trace700.

Jewell received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Industrial Design from the Art Institute of Colorado in Denver, CO. He has been very involved in the mechanical design of the Port Huron School District 2016 Bond Northern High School project in Port Huron, MI as well as Anchor Bay School District’s Foreign Language School Renovation in Anchor Bay, MI. He has extensive experience with 3D AutoCAD, Rhino, SolidWorks and StudioMax software.

Bahjat has experience in 3D modeling and AutoCAD residential design. Bahjat joins PBA with a background in architectural design having studied architecture at Al-Zaytoonah University in Amman- Jordan. Bahjat has been actively involved as a CAD specialist in the Port Huron School District 2016 Bond Cleveland Elementary School project.

DiCicco is an electrical designer for PBA’s Corporate Office and Government Group. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from Wayne State University, Detroit, MI and is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from Wayne State University, Detroit, MI. DiCicco has been involved in the electrical design for the Macomb Community College Building CE Renovations project in Macomb, MI.
