Peter Basso Associates provided commissioning services to Ferris State University for its 90,000 square foot Michigan College of Optometry and Collaborative Health Education Center, with a target goal of achieving LEED Gold.
The building includes academic, laboratory and clinical spaces to support teaching, research and patient care missions. In addition to the education of optometrists for the State of Michigan, the College will provide a location for a variety of community public health services, as well as additional classroom and laboratory space for the campus at large.
The commissioning scope of work includes: schedule and conduct commissioning meetings, develop commissioning manual, develop detailed installation verification checklists for all equipment and each system, review shop drawings, oversee development of subcontractor O&M manual, identify final system commissioning parameters and note any deviations from design, oversee and document start-up functions.
Systems commissioned include: heat exchangers, steam and condensate system, heat pump loop system, chillers, custom heating and cooling air handlers, terminal units and unit heaters, exhaust fans and supply fans, domestic hot water, pumping systems, snow melt system, refrigeration monitoring, automatic transfer switches, generators, and lighting control systems.
